Due to agreements that were penned prior to Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax, and subsequently Bethesda Softworks and their associated game development studios, Arkane Lyon’s first-person shooter DEATHLOOP was a console exclusive to the PlayStation 5 for a year. Now that the exclusivity period has passed, Microsoft has confirmed that DEATHLOOP will be launching on the Xbox Series X|S platform starting Tuesday 20 September 2022 – both as a standalone purchase and via the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
The time-loop assassination experience combines single-player and multiplayer gameplay elements into one experience, pitting two rival assassins in an endless battle for the future. According to Microsoft, their Xbox release of DEATHLOOP comes with all updates released for the game’s PS5/PC version since launch, including “photomode, additional accessibility options, cross-play matchmaking, and a host of quality-of-life fixes”. Furthermore, Arkane Lyon will also be releasing the GOLDENLOOP Update, bringing a new weapon, new ability, new enemy types, an extended ending and more.
DEATHLOOP can now be pre-ordered for the Xbox Series X|S, or be pre-installed as part of Xbox Game Pass ahead of its release. Want an opinion on the game? Read my review of the PlayStation 5 version HERE.
