As we have seen in the last year, console manufacturers Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation) and Microsoft (Xbox) have been acquiring development and publishing companies to add to their line-up of first-party studios. On Microsoft’s end they have decided to go big, acquiring the likes of Bethesda and Activision, while on Sony’s end, they have gone for development teams which will be working on some up-and-coming first-party and multiplatform games. Following their recent acquisition of Housemarque in the middle of last year, SIE has today confirmed that Montreal-based Haven Studios will be joining the PlayStation Studios family.
You may not have heard much about Haven Studios so far, but what you do need to know is that it is a relatively new company founded by Jade Raymond, who was one of the executive creators of major franchises including Assassin’s Creed and Watch_Dogs. Founded in Early 2021, the studio’s first game is a still-yet-to-be-announced IP exclusively for PlayStation consoles, confirmed one year and a few days ago.
Expect to hear more from this now first-party PlayStation studio very soon.
