Three New Songs from Aikiko Shikata to Feature in Touken Ranbu Warriors

Following their work on Touken Ranbu ONLINE along with other games such as Ar Tonelico, Japanese composer Akiko Shikata will be performing three new songs in the upcoming Touken Ranbu Warriors hack-n-slash action game later this year from Omega Force and Koei Tecmo. These compositions will include the game’s opening theme, titled ‘Color Barrage’, which is also featured in the game’s new trailer, and two ending songs – ‘Honor’ and ‘Time’.

Developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo, Touken Ranbu Warriors is based on the Touken Ranbu multimedia franchise, and is being developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. While release dates may differ slightly between regions, those in Europe can look forward to controlling the cute weapons turned boys from 24 May 2022.

According to Koei Tecmo, these three songs will “help convey the magic and mystery of Touken Ranbu Warriors, where famous swords take the form of warriors named Touken Danshi (swordsmen), and these elite fighters are sworn to protect history from an onslaught of evildoers“. As Omega Force has shown in other games they have developed from Dynasty Warriors to Hyrule Warriors to Persona 5 Strikers – great music is important to set the tone as you are one character fighting hundreds if not thousands of foes.

Koei Tecmo Games also shared a new look at Touken Ranbu Warriors’ gameplay, including the game’s damage system. Similar to Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-, when a certain amount of damage or a certain special attack hits one of the heroes, the Touken Danshi not only become injured, but their appearance changes. At the same time, when Touken Danshi are in an injured state, their Hissatsu Gauge fills up faster, making it possible to reverse their situation, and get the upper hand on the enemy attacker.

Furthermore, it was today confirmed that the enigmatic Omokage (VA: Takuma Terashima) will be playable in Touken Ranbu Warriors. Omokage is a mysterious fighter who wields an otachi (great sword). The warrior is calm and collected despite his fragile appearance and will be a key figure in the storyline alongside Mikazuki Munechika and the other Touken Danshi.
