Star Citizen’s Argo RAFT Provides New Option for Those Aspiring Interstellar Truckers

One of the major gameplay loops currently present in Star Citizen’s long-running alpha tests is cargo hauling – transporting legitimate and illicit goods across star systems for some nice wads of aUEC. While there are very few dedicated cargo haulers currently in game, almost every ship with an interior allows players to take at least a couple of crates to a neighbouring star cluster. But, for those who are dedicated to cargo hauling for the long-term and don’t wish to splurge on some of the pricier options – perhaps the newly unveiled Argo RAFT might convince you to pledge a bit more to the game’s development.

As part of their annual in-universe Intergalactic Aerospace Expo, developer Cloud Imperium Games opened up pledges for the Argo RAFT, a dedicated cargo hauler which is designed to help citizens to ‘kickstart [their] cargo career’ as what seems to be a larger 1/2-crew beginner/intermediate level ship.

Argo values your time as well as your safety, and those tenets are exemplified in the RAFT. Small but mighty, the RAFT is innovatively designed to carry three standardized 32 SCU cargo containers, maximizing payload and minimizing hassle. No more hand-loading crates – with the RAFT you’ll be loaded up and ready to go or unloaded and onto the next job before you know it. And whatever you’re hauling, fortified shields, a robust weapons package, and a full suite of countermeasures make sure the RAFT gets it there safe and sound, every time. Haul like a pro with Argo.

How much can you expect to pay for the Argo RAFT? Those who want to pay in-full cash, you can walk away with the ship for $121.00, while the standard purchase price using store credits is $137.50 USD. While coming with the standard orange paint, characteristic of ARGO ships, three additional paint styles (Hazard, Anchor and Polar) can also be purchased as part of the concept sale. Unfortunately, it isnt clear when the Argo RAFT will be flyable in the ‘Verse.

Promoted features of the Argo RAFT include:

Haul Like a Pro
No more hand-loading crates – with the RAFT you’ll be loaded up and ready to go or unloaded and onto the next job before you know it. The RAFT’s three 32 SCU exterior cargo containers make for a hands-off, hassle-free loading experience, and an impressive maximum payload of 96 SCU.

Built Tough
The RAFT is built for ‘rough waters,’ with a remotely-operated turret factory-armed with twin Size-3 laser repeaters, best-in-class armor, and hardpoints capable of equipping Size-1 weapons. Anyone looking for confrontation will think twice, so you don’t have to when plotting potentially risky routes.

Small Crew, Big Impact
With the RAFT, you can run a professional operation with a skeleton crew. Accommodating two operators, though manageable with just one, it lets you maximize profit while minimizing hassle.
