ATLUS West Provide Streaming / Spoiler Warnings for Shin Megami Tensei V

As the first mainline Shin Megami Tensei to be released for a home video game platform since Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne way back in 2003 on the PlayStation 2 – the hype for Shin Megami Tensei V is shaping up to be real. As with many of their mainstream releases, ATLUS West has indicated that they “strongly prohibit video recording and livestreaming of the game prior to the official global launch”, a warning for those who may nab themselves an early copy and wish to ruin the experiences of others.

Furthermore, while streamer warnings are typically only expected as a condition of those receiving pre-release review copies for most games, ATLUS West has gone further and shared an official Streaming FAQ via their website. This outlines requests for spoiler warnings, credit requirements and content which should be withheld from streaming, such as “The cutscene after completing the Temple of Eternity, up until the ending and staff credits appear” and “Boss analysis information visible on the “Analyze” menu screen”.

The FAQs indicate that the company may reach out to those deemed to be breaking these rules.

Shin Megami Tensei V launches globally on the Nintendo Switch starting 12 November 2021.
