A Photographic Tour of the Origin 400i in Star Citizen

Star Citizen Ship Showcase

First announced during CitizenCon 2951 earlier today, the surprise flyable ship announcement from Cloud Imperium Games was the Origin Jumpworks 400i, which will be available from Star Citizen Alpha 3.15 in the very near future. With Alpha 3.15 being available on the Public Test Universe (PTU) servers, I was able to jump in and take a few snaps of the ship – and see if it was worth my keeping or melting.

The Origin Jumpworks 400i is a 3-crew exploration craft, substantially more prominent than its little sister, the 300i, but considerably smaller than its 600i big sister. The vessel is 60m in length, 32m in width, 12.5m in height, and features one of the oddest exteriors in-game to date. But with one of the most unusual exteriors comes one of the first “liveable” interiors from Origin Jumpworks that makes effective use of its space without gaudy features or vast swaths of unused space. The craft is split into two levels – Habitation and Technical, and boasts a large cargo bay, two large cargo storage rooms, space for the Origin X1, two bedrooms, a small living area and enough workstations, escape pods and amenities for three crew members.

Exploration gameplay hasn’t been fully fleshed out in Star Citizen yet, so it is hard to tell how effective it will be in the grand scheme of things. However, it is a ship I will be keeping until another ship catches my attention – perhaps the sexy looking Banu Merchantman.
