Star Citizen Alpha 3.14 Goes Live on Official Game Servers

After being rolled out onto Evocati Test Servers followed by incrementally increasing numbers of backers via the Public Test Universe (PTU) game servers, developer Cloud Imperium Games has rolled out Star Citizen Alpha 3.14 onto their main servers. Now all backers can play the contents of this Alpha without needing to download a second client.

Alpha 3.14 provides flyable access to the gas giant Crusader, which since the first moments of Alpha 2.0 has been viewable afar at Port Olisar. Other inclusions include the picturesque landing zone Orison, the long-awaited RSI Constellation Taurus, improvements to ship flight UIs and much more. A list of the key features of this update can be found below:

  • The release of the RSI Constellation Taurus.
  • Power management gameplay to give you better control of your weapons, shields, and engines.
  • Missile operator mode to give pilots more control over their arsenal
  • Volumetric clouds that bring the gas giant Crusader to life in all its wondrous glory.
  • Reworks on radar, scanning, and pinging systems to locate and obtain info on other entities.
  • The all-new Nine Tails dynamic event and a return of the action-packed, improved XenoThreat incursion.

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $265 million USD through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
