On 10 June 2021, Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade exclusively onto the PlayStation 5. With little more than a month to go, the publisher/developer has shared their ‘final trailer’ for the RPG, highlighting its enhanced features and new content.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade does not continue the story of Final Fantasy VII as some may have hoped, but it is instead an enhanced remaster of the remake. It seeks to take full advantage of the PS5’s hardware improvements through a wealth of graphical, gameplay and system enhancements. But the game also includes new content in the form of Final Fantasy VII Remake: INTERmission, focusing on Yuffie Kisaragi and her partner Sonon Kusakabe, as they embark on a dangerous mission to Midgar and steal the Shinra Electric Power Company’s most powerful materia.
In INTERmission, players will fight as Yuffie, alongside Sonon, as they use fast and furious attacks to team up in all-new battles against Shinra’s Director of Advanced Weaponry Division, Scarlet, and Nero, a member of the elite unit within Deepground known as the Tsviets. A new Summon Materia to call upon Ramuh, the fabled Lord of Levin also newly appears. And finally, the trailer showcases gameplay of Fort Condor, a new tactical mini-game playable exclusively in the chapter.
There are two ways to purchase Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The first is to buy a new copy outright either physically or digitally, which contains the definitive experience. Those who own a PlayStation 4 copy of the game will be able to download a free PS5 enhancement update, but will require separate purchase of Final Fantasy VII Remake: INTERmission. As usual, owners of the disc version of Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS4 will require a PS5 console with disc drive in order to take advantage of this digital upgrade.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be available on 10 June 2021 exclusively on the PlayStation 5.
