Life is Strange Forgoes Episodic Release in Next Chapter – True Colors

Since first being released in 2015, each chapter in the Life is Strange franchise has been released episodically – with each typically being broken down into four or five chapters. Unveiled during the recent Square Enix Presents showcase livestream, the newest chapter in the series – titled Life is Strange: True Colors – will comprise of a single episode rather than multiple – to launch on 10 September 2021.

Life is Strange: True Colours will be a cross-generational game, being released simultaneously on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Google Stadia. The lead developer of this instalment will be Deck Nine Games, the same team who worked on Life is Strange: Before the Storm, rather than original developers Dontnod Entertainment.

In Life is Strange: True Colors, players will fill the shoes of Alex Chen, a resident of Haven Springs who has long suppressed her ‘curse’ – the psychic power of Empathy. This supernatural ability allows her to experience, absorb and manipulate the strong emotions of others – depicted as blazing, coloured auras. When her brother dies in a so-called accident, Alex must at last embrace her volatile power to find the truth – and uncover the dark secrets buried by a small town.

Expect to hear more about this latest chapter in the Life is Strange franchise over the coming months, leading to its launch.
