While many promotion efforts from developer and publisher MiHoYo have been dedicated to their new open-world adventure-RPG Genshin Impact over recent months, the team has been continually working on their smartphone exclusive action RPG Honkai Impact 3rd.
In the latest update to the game, due to go live on 21 January 2021 (or 22 January 2021 depending on where you reside), players will be able to partake in a series of new events in a collaboration with the famous Japanese multimedia IP Neon Genesis Evangelion. This coincides with the airing of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time which is due to begin airing later this month.
More information on this collaboration is due to be made in the next couple of weeks, with developers stating it will “bring the fans of both titles a new epic showdown with [Angels]”.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a monumental work in the history of anime. Its core resonates with that of Honkai Impact 3rd as both Valkyries and NERV are ordained to fight for the world.
Evangelion has remained hugely successful for decades. The unprecedented level of anticipation for the latest movie proves the quality of the content released over the years to cater to its fans. I’m very excited about our upcoming collaboration because it can create something genuinely unique.
