As the very first feature-length film I ever saw at only a few years old, Pixar’s animated film Toy Story offers the ultimate nostalgia to me. Providing a chance for this Pixar classic to be adapted in their collaborative RPG series, Square Enix and Disney have confirmed that Kingdom Hearts III will see Woody, Buzz and many other familiar characters feature in their own world, alongside Sora, Donald and Goofy. This will mark the very first time a Pixar title has been adapted for the series.
Showcased through the above trailer, it shows Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy arriving in Andy’s Bedroom (With their forms taking that of toys). They join Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Rex and Sarge in investigating the disappearance of their fellow toys and Andy – which coincides with the appearance of Heartless in the world.
With the voice acting in this trailer done in Japanese, it isn’t clear if original film voice actors Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, John Rotzenberger and Wallace Shawn will reprise their characters in Kingdom Hearts III. Given how long they have served as the characters, here’s hoping they do.

At long last, we are excited to open up the KINGDOM HEARTS universe to include the world of Disney•Pixar’s ‘Toy Story. I’m sure fans have been anticipating the inclusion of this world for many years. The narrative will be an original story exclusive to KINGDOM HEARTS III, and the gameplay will feel characteristic of the ‘Toy Story’ style and aesthetic. Please stay tuned for more details to be revealed soon.
