New World, Characters and More to Be Offered in Sequel to Dragon Quest Heroes

Omega Force is arguably best known for working with Koei Tecmo in the development of “Warriors” games, such as the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors franchises. The video game developer have however brought their characteristic style of hack ‘n’ slash game to a range of non-historical series such as One Piece and The Legend of Zelda. Another one of these franchises is Square Enix’s Dragon Quest, which saw the release of Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below in 2015.

In Japan, the game received a sequel in May 2016. However, little has been said on if/when the game would be available outside of Japan. Square Enix have recently confirmed that yes – the game will launch in North America and PAL regions from April 25 2017. Surprisingly, the sequel doesn’t have a monstrously long title to date, going by the simple name of just Dragon Quest Heroes II.

Featuring characters both new and old, Dragon Quest Heroes II will see players experience a new adventure, with the objective to once again restore order to a once peaceful world. The story of this instalment can be found below:

Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a long and terrible war. When the war finally ended, the people of the world made a solemn pact never to fight again. The world was divided into seven realms and peace reigned for a thousand years.

One day, cousins and fellow knights-in-training Lazarel and Teresa reunite in the Kingdom of Harba, far from their Dunisian home. Little do they suspect that the Dunisian army is about to invade, with their old friend Prince Cesar at the helm.

The long-kept peace is broken and the world descends into chaos. With the aid of High King’s envoy the cousins must travel to Accordia for a meeting with the Supreme Sovereign of the Seven Realms to find a solution and bring back peace to the world!

While Dragon Quest Heroes II is likely to have many similarities to Omega Force’s normal style of gameplay, they will be expanding the game from its predecessor. One major addition is multiplayer functionality, where players can form a party of up to four players to take down swarms of both weak and strong foes. The game will also feature a number of familiar faces from across the Dragon Quest series, in addition to two new heroes to choose from – cousins Lazarel and Teresa.

Developed by Omega Force, Dragon Quest Heroes II will be available in western markets from April 25 2017. Regional distributor Bandai Namco Entertainment Australia have confirmed an April 28 2017 release date for Australia and New Zealand.
