Date:

In what is undoubtedly exciting news for any fan of Disney’s musical theatre adaptations of their iconic films, the Brisbane season of Disney’s The Lion King is set to commence ticket sales this Thursday (23 July 2026) at 9.00am, in addition to potential pre-sale opportunities in the days leading up to the on-sale. The musical, which quickly sold out during its prior season at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), is set to commence performances from 15 November 2026 at the QPAC Lyric Theatre for a “strictly limited season” – although the final date for that has yet to be confirmed.

This will be the second leg of The Lion King’s 2026 Australian tour, which commenced in and is currently being performed at the Sydney Capitol Theatre. For those interested in early access to tickets or to purchase tickets for the Sydney season, the latest information can be found on the musical’s official website.

The current Australian cast features Buyi Zama in the returning role of Rafiki, with Nick Afoa returning to the production as Mufasa (having performed in the previous Australian tour as Simba). Other members of the cast include Daniel Frederiksen as Scar, Benn Welford as Zazu, Jamie McGregor as Timon, Rutene Spooner as Pumba, Aphiwe Nyezi as grown-up Simba and Emily Nkomo as grown-up Nala. The company will be complemented by a group of young local children in the role of young Simba and Nala.
