The Broadway musical Tootsie is set to make its debut in Australia later this year, with producers confirming the full cast for the upcoming Sydney season. The production will be staged at the newly opened Teatro at the Italian Forum, with the official opening night scheduled for 26 May 2026.
The production is led by director and choreographer Cameron Mitchell, whose previous credits include Sweet Charity and Putting It Together. For this local premiere, the dual role of Michael Dorsey and his alter ego Dorothy Michaels will be performed by Andrew Bevis. Bevis comes to the production with a background that includes West End roles in Les Misérables and Romeo and Juliet, as well as Australian appearances in The Rocky Horror Show and A Little Night Music. He is also currently co-directing the premiere of The Prom at the same venue.

The principal cast features names including Elenoa Rokobaro, who will play the role of Julie Nicholas. She is joined by Alana Tranter as Sandy Lester and Brendan Irving as Max Von Horn. Tyran Stig has been cast as Jeff Slater, while Donna Lee takes on the role of Rita Marshall. The remaining principal positions are filled by Chris Huntley-Turner as Stan Fields and Lachlan O’Brien as Ron Carlisle.
The ensemble for the Sydney season includes Sam Austin, Lisa Callingham, Katie Green, Maximillian Macdonald, Jessica Parris, Jamie Reisin, Julian Seguna, and Nicole Vella, with Arthur Lees serving as the swing.
Cameron Mitchell, the director and choreographer for this production, commented on his satisfaction with the creative potential of the chosen ensemble, sharing:
I am absolutely thrilled with the cast we have assembled. Every one of them has something unique and special. I cannot wait to work with them all on this exciting new show
