Hamlet Camp, written by and starring Brendan Cowell, Ewen Leslie and Toby Schmitz, will return to Carriageworks for a strictly limited season from 7 to 25 January 2026 following its world premiere.
Positioned as a darkly comic hybrid of Shakespeare and contemporary satire, the production follows three actors who cannot quite let go of the Danish prince as they wake up in a self-styled “rehab for Hamlets.” Each character has previously taken on the role and now confronts the aftershocks of playing one of theatre’s most scrutinised parts.
The run reunites the three performers from the world premiere. Cowell recently appeared in The Lady from the Sea at London’s Bridge Theatre alongside Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln. Schmitz starred in Belvoir St Theatre’s Grief is the Thing with Feathers. Leslie featured in the television drama The Twelve.
Presented by Modern Convict and Carriageworks, Hamlet Camp will be performed from 7 to 25 January 2026, with tickets now on-sale via the official Carriageworks website. Tickets are available from $55.00.
