In what may come as disappointing news for those hoping the musical would tour across the country, the Australian producers have confirmed that the eight-time Tony-nominated Beetlejuice the Musical will end its exclusive Melbourne run on 11 September. Final seats for the hit production at the Regent Theatre are now available through the musical’s official website.
The show’s departure marks the last chance for Australian theatregoers to see Eddie Perfect both starring as the mischievous bio-exorcist and hearing his original music and lyrics performed live on home soil. After Melbourne, the production will head offshore, opening in Abu Dhabi in November 2025 before conjuring its chaotic charms in Singapore come January 2026.
Alongside Perfect, the Australian cast features Karis Oka as Lydia Deetz, Elise McCann as Barbara, Rob Johnson as Adam, Erin Clare as Delia and Tom Wren as Charles. Angelique Cassimatis, Andy Conaghan, Adam Lyon, Noni McCallum and Rebecca Ordiz round out the principal roles, supported by a versatile ensemble of local performers.
Commenting alongside the announcement, Eddie Perfect shared:
Playing Beetlejuice on stage in my hometown has been one of the highlights of my life. Our strange and unusual show about death and life has resonated with Australian audiences far beyond my wildest dreams. I’m sad to say farewell in September, but thrilled to hand the striped suit to Andy Karl and our incredible covers.
Produced locally by Michael Cassel Group with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Langley Park Productions, Beetlejuice the Musical boasts creative heavyweights across every department, including scenic designer David Korins (Hamilton), costume designer William Ivey Long (The Producers) and lighting designer Kenneth Posner (Kinky Boots). Special effects by Jeremy Chernick and puppet design by Michael Curry help bring the Netherworld to gloriously chaotic life.
