Audience members attending Wednesday and Thursday evening performances of the musical Annie in Sydney this May are being offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience. Titled “Behind the Red Curtain,” this opportunity is available at no extra cost to ticket holders attending shows between 14 and 29 May.
From 6.00pm, theatregoers will be welcomed into the venue to observe the cast warm up ahead of the 7.00pm performance. From 6.30pm, they will also have the opportunity to take photos with lead cast members in costume. This initiative is limited to the specified evening performances on Wednesdays and Thursdays only.
This simple but really engaging initiative is described by Producer John Frost from Crossroads Live as a special addition to the show experience:
This is a rare and precious opportunity to see and hear cast warm up before a show and have your photo taken with them. With new choreography and updated sets, this is a marvellous fresh production of Annie for a whole new generation, that Sydney audiences are loving. Get your tickets now for Wednesday and Thursday evenings to come ‘Behind the Red Curtain’ with us as an added extra to your show. Don’t wait until Tomorrow!
The cast of Annie features Anthony Warlow as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks, a role he previously performed on Broadway, alongside Debora Krizak as Miss Hannigan. Other principal cast members include Mackenzie Dunn as Lily St. Regis, Keanu Gonzalez as Rooster Hannigan, Amanda Lea LaVergne as Grace Farrell, and Greg Page, best known as the original Yellow Wiggle, in his musical theatre debut as President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
But of course, the main stage star of the show is not necessarily the adults, but rather the children who fill the shoes of Annie and her orphan friends. The title role of Annie is shared by Beatrix Alder, Matilda Casey, Dakota Chanel and Stephanie McNamara. The young performers playing Annie’s fellow orphans include Kiki Kersten, Francesca Kong and Matilda Teiotu as Pepper; Camille Nko’o, Bianca Papa and Olivia Scott as Duffy; Elle Boesen, Yasha Glaperin and Skylah McMah as Kate; Chloe Delle-Vedove, Nina Gallas and Ava Palfreyman as July; Pearl Mason, Cailin Scully and Victoria Togias as Tessie; Ellie Lang, Arianna Lorusso and Willow Wilson as Molly; and Yeshi Jehru, Zoe Reeves, Skye Spiden and Aleia Taliacos as Friday.
Tickets to see Annie the Musical in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are now available via the musical’s official website.
