Queensland actors are being called to the stage, as Queensland Theatre and La Boite Theatre announce the opening of their General Audition applications for 2025. In a continued show of collaboration, the two companies are combining efforts to meet a broad range of local performers, inviting them to introduce their craft to the Artistic and Programming teams. Applications are now open and will close at 5pm on Thursday 10 April.
These General Auditions aren’t tied to specific roles or productions, but instead offer a chance for actors to showcase their work, potentially opening doors to future opportunities with either company. If selected, actors will audition between Wednesday 30 April and Friday 2 May 2025. The process is open to Queensland-based artists aged 20 and over who either have formal acting training or a demonstrable history of professional stage experience. Due to limited scheduling, not all applicants are guaranteed an audition, and those who have auditioned or worked with either company within the last two years are not able to apply again.
Participants invited to audition will be asked to prepare two contrasting pieces, each no longer than two minutes. These should reflect the performer’s range and individuality, with the choice of material entirely up to the artist. The joint panel will include Queensland Theatre Artistic Director Daniel Evans, La Boite Artistic Director Courtney Stewart, and other key artistic team members.
More information on this opportunity can be found on the Queensland Theatre website. For those going for it – good luck!
