Crossroads Live Australia has something quite unique planned for their upcoming Perth opening night of Wicked the Musical at the Crown Theatre in a few weeks time. The producers have announced a special $20 ticket offer for the Gala Opening, a first for not only the production, but having organised quite a few opening nights in my time, rather unique among all productions.
A total of 300 tickets will be sold for $20 each on a strictly first-come, first-served basis, with sales beginning at 9 am on Friday, 13 December, in person at the Crown Theatre. Fans are encouraged to queue early, as demand is expected to be high. A maximum of two tickets can be purchased per customer, and valid ID is required at the time of purchase.
Leading the Australian cast are Courtney Monsma as Glinda, the bubbly and popular future “Glinda the Good”, and Sheridan Adams as Elphaba, the green-skinned girl destined to become the “Wicked Witch of the West”. Joining them are Todd McKenney as the Wizard, Jennifer Vuletic as the manipulative Madame Morrible, and Liam Head returning as Fiyero, the seemingly shallow Winky Prince. Other key cast members include Paul Hanlon as Dr Dillamond, Chelsea Dean as Nessarose, and Kurtis Papadinis as
Co-producer John Frost shared his excitement, saying:
I’m thrilled we’re able to bring WICKED back to Perth, and that fans have the chance to come along to the Opening Night for only $20. This is one of the most lavish musical productions to have ever played in Australia, the full Broadway experience. You can see every dollar spent on the magnificent sets and lush costumes, a feast for the eye and the ear. A proven blockbuster all around the world since it premiered, it has become one of the most loved musicals of all time.
People love it for so many different reasons – some come for the engrossing story, some for the astonishing sets and costumes, some for the soaring ballads, some for the deeper messages, and some to see the life-affirming friendship between the two young women who grow up to be Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. If you have never seen WICKED on stage, come and see it for the first time and be spellbound. If you have seen it before, I know you’ll want to come back and be enthralled all over again. Get your tickets now while you can.
The Perth season runs from 15 December 2024 to 2 February 2025. For regular tickets and show details, visit the official Wicked the Musical Australia website. Check out my full review of this new touring Australian production.
