Praise The Sisters! Sister Act the Musical is Heading to Brisbane in 2025

Uniting Casey Donovan, Genevieve Lemon and Rhonda Burchmore for an even more musical take on the iconic 1992 feature film originally featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act the Musical is confirmed to make its Brisbane debut in February 2025 at the QPAC Lyric Theatre. This is the third confirmed leg of the musical’s Australian tour, which will commence at the Sydney Capitol Theatre in August, before travelling to Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in November.

Now, I hear your prayers calling out for the opportunity to nab yourself some prime seating for the Brisbane season? You must be patient however, as tickets have not yet gone on-sale. All eager patrons are encouraged to register for the show’s Brisbane waitlist, for the chance to participate in early pre-sales the moment they go live.

Sister Act the Musical is being produced in Australia by John Frost for Crossroads Live in association with Jamie Wilson. While full casting has yet to be announced, we do have the leading trio confirmed. Casey Donovan, closely following her long-time engagement with & Juliet will be leading the cast as Deloris Van Cartier, joined by Genevieve Lemon in the role of Mother Superior and Rhonda Burchmore as choir leader Sister Mary Lazarus — all three a major coup for the production to have involved.

Sister Act the Musical is a stage adaptation of the comedy-musical Sister Act, first screened in 1992 – and features original music by Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted and The Little Mermaid) and features songs inspired by motown, soul and disco music — aiming to present an experience that will lift audiences up to the heavens through its joyous and uplifting soundtrack.

Disco diva Deloris’ life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Placed under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she shouldn’t be found – a convent! Encouraged to help the struggling choir, she helps her fellow sisters find their true voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

Keep an eye out for more news around the full Australian tour in the coming weeks, with the full cast announcement imminent.
