Following the musical’s inaugural Australian tour prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Book of Mormon is confirmed to be returning to Sydney for an encore season (and perhaps, encore national tour), starting in July 2025 at the Capitol Theatre. This encore season is being produced by Anne Garefino, Important Musicals and Suzanne Jones for JONES Theatrical Group.
With the book, music and lyrics created by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone, known for their works on South Park, Avenue Q, and Frozen – first timers can look forward to their iconic brand of humour. The musical follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys who are sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get… Uganda. Faced with war lords, apathetic villagers who have much more important things on their mind and themselves to contend with.. will they baptize new Mormons, or die trying?
As of writing, The Book of Mormon is only confirmed for Sydney’s Capitol Theatre, but it would surprise me if they didn’t work their way eventually to Melbourne and other states. To sign up for the ticketing waitlist, visit the musical’s official website. Alternatively, are you a performer perhaps seeking to tour with the company? Audition applications are also open HERE.
