Michael Cassel Group, the producer behind major Australian productions such as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Hamilton, & Juliet, Mary Poppins and the highly-anticipated Australian premiere of Beetlejuice have today announced they have something else in store for audiences in 2024, something that is planned to be exclusive to Sydney. Michael Cassel and original producer Eva Price have announced that they are teaming up to bring TITANIQUE to The Grand Electric in September 2024.
As the name suggests, this is a comedic and irreverent adaptation of the film Titanic, driven by the songs of Céline Dion, which has seen its run at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square extended multiple times since it premiered in 2022. As of the announcement this musical will be exclusive to Sydney, and is set to go on-sale in June. Those interested in getting first dibs on tickets can sign up for the musical’s waitlist HERE.
When the music of Céline Dion makes sweet Canadian love with the eleven-time Oscar Award-winning blockbuster film Titanic, you get TITANIQUE, off-Broadway’s most award-winning splash hit, which turns one of the greatest love stories of all time into a hysterical musical fantasia. Want to find out what really happened to Jack and Rose on that fateful night? Just leave it to Céline Dion to enchant the audience with her totally wild take, recharting the course of Titanic’s beloved moments and characters with her iconic song catalogue. Sailing on fierce powerhouse voices in show-stopping performances of such hits as My Heart Will Go On, All By Myself, and To Love You More – backed by the unparalleled energy of a full live band – TITANIQUE is a one-of-a-kind theatrical voyage bursting with nostalgia, heart, and campy chaos.
TITANIQUE was co-written by Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli and Tye Blue, and features direction by Tye Blue, choreography by Ellenore Scott, and original music supervision arrangements and orchestrations by Nicholas James Connell – among many other creatives. Casting for the Australian production is now underway, and with the opening night date relatively close, you can expect to hear about who will take on whom in the coming months.
