WICKED Celebrates Two Decades with Special Performances in Sydney

As WICKED prepares to mark its 20th anniversary on Broadway on 30 October 2023, the new Australian rendition of WICKED is set to join in on the global celebrations. Fans attending either performance on 29 October 2023 will be able to enjoy special celebrations to mark this milestone.

The day will feature two themed performances: the 1pm show, dubbed the “Pink” (Glinda) performance, and the 6:30pm act as the “Green” (Elphaba) performance. Theatre-goers are encouraged to join in the festivities by dressing up in the respective colors, with prizes awaiting the best dressed, which includes the opportunity to snap a photo with WICKED cast members. To add to the celebratory spirit, pink and green cocktails will be available at half price and candy will be handed out to attendees. Also, harkening back to the production’s first Australian tour, Australia’s original stars for Glinda and Elphaba, Lucy Durack and Amanda Harrison, will be present to join the jubilation with fans.

Haven’t booked your tickets? The final batch of tickets will be available for purchase this week. Pre-sales begin today, with general public sales starting from the special performance day on 29 October.

Commenting on the musical’s enduring appeal, WICKED Australia producer John Frost has shared:

For 20 years, WICKED has cast its spell over audiences across the world, and it’s become one of the most beloved musicals ever. People love it for so many different reasons – some come for the engrossing story, some for the astonishing sets and costumes, some for the soaring ballads, some for the deeper messages, and some to see the life-affirming friendship between the two young women who grow up to be Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

I’m thrilled that Sydney audiences have embraced WICKED– the reaction from audiences and critics alike has been overwhelming. Our Australian cast are second to none, and universally praisedSydney, get your tickets now before we move to Melbourne in February.

Long before Dorothy dropped in, two other young women meet in the land of Oz. One born with emerald-green skin is smart, fiery, misunderstood and possessing an extraordinary talent. The other is bubbly, blonde, ambitious and exceptionally popular. They become rivals, then friends…until the world decides to call one “good” and the other one “wicked.”
