Following a few waves of pre-sales over the past few days, Disney Theatrical Productions have today commenced general public sales for their February 2024 season of Beauty and the Beast the Musical, the first stop following its debut season in Sydney which commenced earlier this year. This will be the first time that the musical has ever been performed in Brisbane since it commenced performing on Broadway in 1994, and held its first Australian tour a year later in 1995.
Tickets for the Brisbane season, being hosted at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Lyric Theatre, are available exclusively via the QPAC website, or by calling their QTIX ticketing team on 136 246. There are a considerable number of different price points, ranging from $49.00 to upwards of $250.00, with factors such as session time/date, preferred seating reserve and potentially more determining the price point you will pay. If you are wanting something central in the front stalls (N row or forward), you are typically looking at $200+ a seat.
The 2023-2024 Australian production features a principal cast including Brisbane’s Shubshri Kandiah as Belle, Brendan Xavier as Beast and Melbourne’s Rohan Browne in the role of Lumiere. Additionally, Brisbane’s Jackson Head will step into the role of Gaston, Cogsworth will be played by Melbourne’s Gareth Jacobs and Gold Coast’s Jayde Westaby will play Mrs Potts. You can expect to see a range of young Queensland children performing opposite Westaby in the role of Chip. The principal cast is capped off by Nick Cox as Le Fou, Rodney Dobson as Maurice, Hayley Martin as Babette and Alana Tranter as Madame.
This is a reimagined production of Disney Theatrical Production’s inaugural musical theatre work, and even if its origins are with a musical almost three decades old, it still has the foundations of a magical musical.
