Some of Australia’s most renown performers are lined-up to feature in the 2024 stage production of Grease the Musical. The production will open its curtains in Melbourne on 31 December 2023, for a multi-month season, before heading to Sydney from March 2024.
Patti Newton, the esteemed actress, is slated to portray Miss Lynch, while celebrated singer Marcia Hines will assume the role of Teen Angel. The versatile Jay Laga’aia is also among the ensemble, taking on the role of Vince Fontaine. In the show’s most prominent roles will be two younger, and still rising talents in the Australian performing arts industry. The character Sandy, immortalized by Olivia Newton-John, will be played by Annelise Hall from Sydney. Hall’s previous credits include The Marvellous Elephant Man and Aspects of Love at the Hayes Theatre. Assuming the role of Danny Zuko, famously portrayed by John Travolta, is Joseph Spanti from Melbourne. Spanti has previously been part of Friends! The Musical Parody and Cruel Intentions: The 90’s Musical.
Tickets to Grease the Musical’s Melbourne run at Her Majesty’s Theatre will commence on Friday 23 June 2023, with tickets for the Sydney season at the Capitol Theatre to go on sale a month later on Friday 21 July 2023.

Grease is known for its vibrant costumes and unforgettable melodies, which include iconic tracks such as Summer Nights, Sandy, Hopelessly Devoted to You, You’re The One That I Want, Greased Lightnin’ ,and “Grease is the Word. One can hope that this new 2024 Australian Production will meet the standards set by its predecessors – both theatrical and film alike.
