Following the show’s run at the London Palladium, Australian musical theatre producer the Gordon Frost Organisation brought the production of The Sound of Music to audiences in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide in 2016. This 1950s Rogers & Hammerstein musical which later spawned the iconic 1960s film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, still as charming today as I imagine it was back then. This production saw Amy Lehpamer take on the role of Maria, with Cameron Daddo as Captain von Trapp, Marina Prior as Baroness Schraeder, Lorraine Bayly as Frau Schmidt and Jacqui Dark as Mother Abbess. The performers were also joined on-stage by a local cast of children from each state, taking on the role of the von Trapp children.
