Aya Hirano has confirmed the upcoming release of her new digital single evolutions, which will become available on 10 May 2025. This marks her first solo release in 11 years and continues her collaboration with the Lantis label, the same imprint that launched her music career in 2006.
The new track is also being produced by Heart Company, led by Shigeru Saito – who previously supported Hirano’s musical work on anime such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star. Composition and arrangement are by John Kanda of Ajiwai, while Hirano herself has written the lyrics.
Evolutions seeks to be a powerful and energetic song, with a goal being to showcase Hirano’s current musical direction, drawing on the range of vocal genres she has explored across her career. The single’s release will be part of a wider return to music for Hirano, who resumed her career in 2024 with the RE:BOOT live tour. A new concert tour featuring evolutions is set to begin in April 2025, covering eight cities across Japan.
Looking ahead, Hirano will mark the 20th anniversary of her debut single Breakthrough on 8 March 2026, also originally released under Lantis.
