Seven Seas Entertainment, through its Siren imprint specializing in audiobooks, has announced the impending release of the audiobook series for Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA. This light novel series, penned by Ikuto Yamashita, Khara, and Yasuo Kashihara, is set to be narrated by Tiffany Grant, notably recognized for her role as Asuka Langley Soryu in the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime dub. This marks the first time the official light novels of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise will be available in an English audiobook format.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA presents an alternate conclusion to the original anime series. The story revolves around Ikari Shinji, who, at seventeen, has emerged as the leader of the EVA team. Under Commander Katsuragi Misato’s guidance, the Evangelion suits have undergone significant upgrades, boasting advanced designs and capabilities. These enhancements are in anticipation of a potential resurgence of the monstrous Angels. The narrative also introduces four Ayanami Rei clones, tasked with executing a global anti-Angel search-and-destroy mission. However, when one of these clones deviates from her intended path, it leaves Shinji as the only one that can stop her.
The first volume of Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA (Audiobook) is scheduled for release on December 14, 2023 in English, with subsequent volumes to follow at a later date, presumably in the new year. If you want to pre-order your copy, visit the official Seven Seas Audio Books website.
