Following Recent Events at Twitter, Skeb Allows Account Login via Email

Using another platform to authenticate a services users are commonplace nowadays, with many popular and niche services offering authentication via Twitter, Facebook, Google, Office 365 and a range of over services depending what its community most commonly uses. Since the service went live several years ago, users of the Skeb artwork commissioning platform have only had one way of creating and logging in to an account – linking their Twitter account to it. Even as of last month, Skeb’s development team indicated they had no plans for this to change:

Following Recent Events at Twitter, Skeb Allows Account Login via Email 1

But with recent concerns around changes to Twitter, regardless of how founded or unfounded they are, the development team would understandably need to consider what would happen if users are suddenly unable to use their Twitter account to log into Skeb, and unable to access previous requests or do the core thing that the service facilitates – sending requests.

While a Twitter account is still required to create an account, users can now sign into Skeb using an email address. This tool can be accessed by scrolling down to the bottom left of any page and clicking ‘Sign in with email’. Entering in your email address will send you a sign in link, which will serve as an alternate means of logging in. There are no limitations on what you can do when logging in via this method.

While primarily a ‘worse case scenario’ option for the platform, it is nice to see an alternate form of logging in to your Skeb account, especially for those artists who may find their account limited.. Unfortunately, there are still no plans to offer other registration methods at this time.
