While the second season of TV anime Medalist hasn’t even broadcast yet, set to commence next Saturday (24 January 2026), plans for what comes after the broadcast have been confirmed by the production’s creative team. It has been confirmed that a theatrical release will screen in cinemas across Japan in 2027. To mark this announcement, a new key visual has been shared.
Based on the manga by Tsurumaikada, Medalist follows the fervent ambition of Inori Yuitsuka, an 11-year-old fifth grader who dreams of becoming an Olympic figure skater despite being considered “too old” to start by industry standards. Her aspirations are dismissed by those around her until she meets Tsukasa Akeuraji, a former ice dancer who is on the verge of abandoning the sport after failing to achieve his own competitive dreams.
Recognizing a kindred spirit and immense, raw potential in Inori, Tsukasa becomes her coach, and together the duo faces the cutthroat world of competitive skating, aiming to overcome the time lost and prove that dedication can defy the odds on the ice.
The TV anime adaptation of Medalist is currently streaming on Disney+, featuring dual-language (English and Japanese) audio options as new episodes go live.
