At Anime Expo 2024, Iconic Events Releasing, in partnership with AMC Networks’ HIDIVE, announced plans for a 30th anniversary theatrical release of the acclaimed samurai period anime drama film, Ninja Scroll. Originally released in 1993 and written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Ninja Scroll is celebrated as a seminal work in anime filmmaking.
The 30th anniversary release is part of Iconic Events Releasing’s 2024-2025 AX Cinema Nights series. The film will be screened in over 500 U.S. theaters on the 11th, 12th, and 15th of September, available in both Japanese with English subtitles and the English dub.
The AX Cinema Nights is a year-round movie event series showcasing both new and classic anime films in theaters across North America, offering the anime fan community immersive experiences beyond the annual Anime Expo. The full line-up for AX Cinema Nights will be revealed in the coming months.
Right now, there is nothing you can do to book tickets. However, advanced tickets are expected to go on-sale for Ninja Scroll soon via the Anime Expo Cinema Nights website, where a complete list of theater locations will be provided. Tickets will also be available at participating theater box offices.
