Following the likes of other recent anime following youngsters chasing their dreams such as this season’s The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls U149, it was this evening confirmed that an anime adaptation of Tsurumaikada’s sports-drama manga Medalist is underway. This comes in the lead-up to the 8th volume releasing in Japan next week, with six of them having been published in the west kudos of Kodansha USA. In my opinion, it is definitely worth reading when you get the chance, even if the traditional printed volumes have been forgone at this time.
Details on the anime are currently scarce, so it isn’t clear when we can see it hitting the airways in Japan and official streaming platforms worldwide. But what we do know is that it will feature animation by the studio ENGI, whose previous works include Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! and Management of a Novice Alchemist. It will also feature direction by Yasutaka Yamamoto, a script by Jukki Hanada, and character designs by Chinatsu Kameyama.
To tide fans over, we also received an official teaser image, and a teaser website where more is presumably going to be announced in the coming weeks and months.
