Animated Feature Films Around Fruits Basket and Fairy Tail Coming to CrunchyRoll This Month

Closing out their weekly summer movie programming schedule, CrunchyRoll has confirmed that Fruits Basket -prelude- will be coming to their streaming platform on 6 October 2022 – with both the original Japanese audio and English dubbing options. Furthermore, Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry will also be made available, with both English and Japanese language audio options as well.

Fruits Basket -prelude- is the prequel film to the (more) recent 2019 anime adaptation of the Fruits Basket manga series. As per its title, it is a prequel film of a time before Tohru and Kyo – where there was Katsuya and Kyoko. Viewers are invited to discover the turbulent beginning of Tohru’s mom’s dark past, and the man who breathed new hope into her.

Fruits Basket -prelude- will be available with English and Japanese audio language options, with other subtitle languages to include Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, and Castilian Spanish.

First screened in 2017, Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry takes place between the last two story arcs of the series within Fairy Tail Final Season. Viewers are invited to witness the members of Fairy Tail to recover the Dragon Cry – a magic staff rumored to possess the power to destroy the world. For years it’s been safely guarded in the Kingdom of Fiore until Zash, a traitor of Fiore, steals it. Luckily, the task of recovering the Dragon Cry is the perfect job for the wizards of Fairy Tail – enter Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray, Wendy, and the cats!

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry will be streamable with Japanese and English audio options, but unlike the other film, only features English subtitles.
