Nozomi Entertainment’s Kickstarter for Dirty Pair HD/English Dub Release Surpasses $400k USD

Following successful crowdfunding campaigns for both Emma: A Victorian Romance and ARIA, the third crowdfunding project from North American anime publisher RightStuf is for Dirty Pair, the 1985 TV anime adaptation of Haruka Takachiho’s 1980s light novel works. While the anime has already been licensed and published by Nozomi in the past, this campaign is seeking to bring the series to Blu-ray containing both the TV season and its OVA episodes with a brand new English dub.

Originally with a $275,000 goal, Nozomi Entertainment surpassed this goal very quickly, and (as of writing) has received $411,842.20 USD pledged as of writing. They have surpassed many of their crowdfunding stretch goals offering everything from 5.1 Audio, amendments to the special Kickstarter artbox and special episode commentaries.

The original English voice actors for both Kei (Pam Lauer) and Yuri (Jessica Calvello) will also be returning to voice their respective roles, having voiced many of the OAVs and feature films as part of the original ADV Dub. This is notable as Lauer has not been active in the scene for quite a few years.

If you want to nab yourself some of the pledge goodies from the series on Blu-ray, Collector’s Box, Autographs, Shot Glasses, Costumes, a guest voice role or more – you have 14 more days to pledge funds by clicking HERE.

About Dirty Pair

In the 22nd century mankind may be technologically advanced, but there are still some problems that can only be fixed by a couple of women who won’t back down from a fight! These are the adventures of Kei and Yuri, two official Trouble Consultants for the World Welfare Works Association (WWWA) who use their brains, brawn, and looks to solve any problem. They call themselves the “Lovely Angels,” but because their solutions often result in chaos and mass destruction, the rest of the universe has dubbed them the “Dirty Pair”!

For Kei and Yuri, no two missions are ever the same. As the WWWA’s top Trouble Consultants, they take on all sorts of odd jobs, like chasing down treasure in high-tech ruins, fighting off political assassins, and even avenging the death of… a plaster statue? In the end, only one thing’s for sure: anything that stands between these two and victory is sure to be destroyed!

This animated series features main series direction by Toshifumi Takizawa, mechanical design by Studio Nue,  production by Studio Nue/Sunrise, and is based on the novels of Haruka Takachiho.
