Yen Press to Localise and Publish Memoir of Megumi Hayashibara

Typically, you would expect the US-based publisher Yen Press to localise and publish manga and light novel works. But today’s announcement sees them drifting from form a little, acquiring the license to the memoirs of an iconic Japanese voice actor. The publisher has today confirmed they would be offering a digital release of The Characters Taught Me Everything: Living Life One Episode at a Time, by Japanese voice actor Megumi Hayashibara.

For over three decades, renowned Japanese voice actress Megumi Hayashibara has breathed life into countless iconic characters. These include but are by no means limited to Ranma Saotome (Ranma ½), Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion), Lina Inverse (Slayers), Jessie (Pokémon), Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop), and Paprika (Paprika). In this new autobiographical memoir, Megumi provides an in-depth look at her illustrious career and how the very characters she has portrayed have impacted her life on both personal and professional levels.

The Characters Taught Me Everything: Living Life One Episode at a Time is due to be available digitally on 20 February 2021, simultaneous with its release in Japan. It is not clear on whether a physical release will be available to purchase at a later date.
