Madman Anime Festival to Host Inaugural Brisbane Leg This Weekend

Many months ago it was confirmed that the Madman Anime Festival, organised by Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment, would not just focus on its original home base in 2017 but tour to several different states. Following a weekend in Perth a few months back which saw US-based voice actors Crispin Freeman and Erica Mendez feature as its special guests, preparations are almost finished for this weekend’s upcoming leg in Brisbane.

The festival is being held on Saturday 10th June 2017 and Sunday 11th June 2017 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in South Bank, Brisbane. Standard admission prices are $40.00 for either the Saturday or Sunday, or $60.00 for a weekend pass. Tickets are available through either the festivals website, or on the day.

While it may not have the breadth of special guests as other more generalized festivals may have, Madman Anime Festival Brisbane does have some good specialised guests in its line-up. These include US-based voice actor Cherami Leigh (Read my pre-festival interview with her here) and Japanese voice actor Yuko Miyamura.

There are a number of events being held across the two days, with a full list of information via the festivals official website. Some highlights include Australian premiere screenings of the Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale English dub and Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic [Both post-show, with tickets purchased separately], both a Cosplay Parade and the Madman National Cosplay Championship, panels, a maid cafe, and more.

Not able to make it to Madman Anime Festival Brisbane? Madman Entertainment will be concluding their 2017 tour with Melbourne in November.

Expect to see some posts on the Madman Anime Festival over the coming days.
