NIS America have announced that one of their next anime title releases will be of kimi ni todoke -From Me to You-, a series that is a rather different genre for them to be doing in comparison to their more comedic or fantasy aligned series. A blurb for the series is as follows:
Sawako Kuronuma has had a difficult time fitting in. Some say it’s her hair, others say it’s her hushedmanner of speaking, while still others claim it is due to her name’s similarity to Sadako, a character froma popular Japanese horror series. On her first day of high school, Sawako meets the one boy who treatsher like a normal girl—Shota Kazehaya. Through his selfless aid, Sawako slowly learns to come out of hershell and even begins to make friends for the first time in her life.
However, with a new social life comesocial pressures. Rumors begin to circulate about her, her friends, and even the kindhearted Kazehaya. As she grows into her new identity, Sawako must learn to deal with such pressures as well as start tounderstand the unfamiliar feelings inside of her, especially in regards to the boy who made her new startpossible.
The Volume 1 Premium Release (Despite being Premium, it is actually the only launch version) is due for release in January 2012 and will come with both a DVD and Blu-ray version of the episodes (Do note that Blu-ray movies are region restricted). Also included is their hard cover storage box that whilst not going well with a bookshelf full of DVD’s and books, I find are great means of storing them nevertheless. Also included is their usual artbook which to me have always been of sufficiently high quality. On disc extras will consist of clean Opening and Ending Sequences.
The second volume of kimi ni todoke is also slated for release in 2012 and will contain the rest of the episodes in this series. NIS America is a distributor of anime titles in North America, and will not be available in stores anywhere else in the world, however can still be ordered from the NIS America online store, or other anime distributors such as Rightstuf.com.
