Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have recently shared a new batch of information and screenshots for their upcoming release of Lego Dimensions; showcasing the levels, characters and gameplay functionality provided from the Midway Arcade and The Simpsons crossovers. Both The Simpsons and Midway Arcade levels are part of the LEGO Dimensions main game that can be played through in the Starter Pack – with additional paid content providing further gameplay opportunities.
LEGO Dimensions is set for release on September 28 2015 on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U gaming platforms.
The Simpsons
Although it may not be able to completely recreate the designs present in the TV animation, The Simpsons level within LEGO Dimensions incorporates a cel-shaded art style. As you can see in the images below, this helps deliver environments and character designs which are more faithful to the original source material.
Players will face an unlikely pair of evil masterminds in The Simpsons Level – Lord Business and The Joker – who have joined Lord Vortech’s legion of villains and invaded Springfield. It is up to Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle to put a stop to them and restore order to The Simpsons world.
Those looking to expand their The Simpsons experience in LEGO Dimensions have the options of purchasing The Simpsons Level Pack which includes a LEGO Homer Simpson minifigure. There are also going to be The Simpsons Fun Packs available, which include either a LEGO Bart Simpson mini-figure or a LEGO Krusty the Clown mini-figure. All of the characters, vehicles or gadgets from these or any other expansion pack can be combined with any other characters, vehicles and gadgets that exist throughout the game, and can be played in any level.
Midway Arcade
In the Midway Arcade Level; Batman, Gandalf and Wildstyle find themselves in a video game – where they must race in Super Sprint, smash their way through hordes of enemies in Gauntlet, save astronauts in Defend and defeat robots in Robotron. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment will be offering a Midway Arcade Gamer Level Pack as well, which comes with a LEGO Retro Gamer minifigure and an entire level with more than 20 arcade games to beat.
