Mere days after sharing their most recent promotional video for Until Dawn, Supermassive Games and Sony Computer Entertainment have shared a new trailer for the game. Titled ‘The Road Not Taken’, this is a short live action video that “is inspired by the emotional experience of Until Dawn” rather than providing a direct look at in-game footage.

Since Until Dawn is based around the concept of choice (and the tension around it), I immediately thought of Robert Frost’s poem ‘The Road Not Taken’, which I thought would create an interesting tone and backdrop paired with visceral and frightening images. The poem is often misinterpreted, and is really more complex than people think.
It’s not really an empowering poem of choosing your unique destiny that others haven’t taken; it’s meaning is more bleak and bittersweet. And I found that perfect for Until Dawn.
Until Dawn is a survival horror adventure game which allows you to witness the experiences of eight characters – as your every decision can alter their chances of survival and success in searching for answers to their situation. Developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4, Until Dawn is set to be available in stores beginning August 26 2015.
