Nippon Ichi Software America have shared their second batch of English localized screenshots for their upcoming dungeon-crawling JRPG release of Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy.
Developed by Experience, the same team that developed Demon Gaze which NIS America published last year, this is a more modern, sci-fi JRPG set in a near future Tokyo. With the city under the constant threat of Variants (genetically engineered monsters) and the emergence of portals leading to a mysterious dimension called the Abyss, the government has established the Code Physics Agency to investigate these mysterious phenomena. The Xth Squad – a unique group of teens modified by the CPA’s Code technology must evade traps, face down powerful monsters and be the ones to ultimately investigate and put an end to the ongoing Variant threat.
This latest batch of screenshots focuses on dungeons, and some of the variants which The Xth Squad will find themselves up against through the game’s battle system. A handful of screenshots also preview some CG Artwork and the visual novel mode of delivering dialogue.
To be available exclusively on the PlayStation Vita, Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy is set for release in North America on June 9th 2015 and PAL regions a few days earlier starting June 5th. In teaming up with Bandai Namco Games Australia (who will serve as distributor), they have also confirmed a June 4th 2015 release date for Australia and New Zealand.
