In an announcement made today, the Gold Coast Film Festival team announced that they are teaming up with the Surfers Paradise Alliance to run the Shorts in Paradise Festival (SIPFest) this year, which they are describing the Gold Coast’s biggest short film festival. This event will be held as part of the annual Surfers Paradise and Gold Coast Film Festivals which are held in April this year.
Filmmakers and film students can enter a short film up to 10 minutes in duration by Friday 27th March to be considered for the free public event that will screen the best films on the renown Surfers Paradise beach on the 12th April 2015. This will be a venue change from the Neal Shannon Park which the shorts festival has previously been held at.
It is hoped that SIPFest will provide an opportunity for filmmakers both locally and from around Australia to be identified and rewarded. All short films with an approximate M classification or lower and are under 10 minutes in length will be considered for inclusion, with more details on submissions and potential prizes being found on the SIPFest website.

With the Gold Coast Film Festival and the Surfers Paradise Festival both running during April, it made sense to partner for the annual SIPFest event. The partnership will ensure SIPFest appeals to a wider film loving audience and drives visitation into the precinct. This year SIPFest will also move from Neal Shannon Park to the iconic Surfers Paradise Beach, which will deliver a unique outdoor film experience to audiences like no other on the Gold Coast.
