Square Enix recently launched Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster, which for the first time in a decade brings together two of their classic PlayStation 2 RPG’s which personally served as my welcoming to the RPG market as a whole. To mark this launch, Square Enix are holding The Art of Final Fantasy X / X-2, a charity event held at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California for which the opening ceremony was recently held.
At this ceremony, both Art Director Yusuke Naora and Producer Yoshinori Kitase were in attendance and had a little bit of a surprise for fans. Naora performed a live art demonstration to conclude the evening, creating a one-of-a-kind piece. Mr. Naora has been quoted as stating “While we normally write stories [FINAL FANTASY] about saving the world, I wondered if there was anything we could do through our games to share the pain felt by those affected“.
In keeping true to this, this original piece in addition to brand new original art by Yusuke Naora, Isamu Kamikokuryo, Tetsuya Nomura, and a special art panel signed by 10 artists of Final Fantasy X are available for auction, with proceeds benefitting the Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. Bids on the original art piece is currently at $3,000, with bids on this and other items available HERE.
