During their annual fanfest event, CCP Games unveiled a new project which is set to ask the question of what it is like to experience EVE Online from the cockpit of a fighter. With EVE-VR you are launched from a carrier into a hectic dogfight with 11 other drones and forced navigate a treacherous battlefield on an epic scale.
EVE-VR is a side project that is in development by a small team of CCP developers in their free time. The company have detailed on their rather extensive developer blog that they have no idea what will become of this project. However they have confirmed they would like to release it at some point – and may just be the title that will convince me to pick up an Oculus Rift myself.
