During the first Supanova of the year, Madman Entertainment announced that with all the great Japanese animated films up for grabs this year, they would be dropping their usual biennial Reel Anime event and instead making it annual – with the announcement of Reel Anime 2013. During the Gold Coast Supanova, the company confirmed that the second title on their slate for the event is 009 RE: CYBORG. The team at Madman have recently released their English subtitled trailer for the film, which is set to screen in select cinemas around Australia around September/October this year.
Nine regular humans from different parts of the world are abducted and transformed into cyborgs with astounding powers for the purpose of being used as weapons. The nine cyborgs rebel and start to fight against their creators in the name of justice and world peace. Decades later, the nine cyborgs seem to be untouched by time, but they live in a world where “justice” has as many nuances as the number of people living on the planet. What is their place in the world now?
