The smiling puppet at the centre of Mr Magpie’s Harmless Card Game now has a voice, and it belongs to Matt Mercer. The casting was revealed in a new trailer during the ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase, alongside news that the game is coming to consoles and will launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Mr Magpie’s Harmless Card Game is a surreal corporate horror deckbuilder developed by Giant Light Studios and published by Miss Behaviour, part of Behaviour Interactive, together with Gambit Digital. It mixes Minesweeper-style deduction with push-your-luck mechanics and roguelike deckbuilding, all overseen by a cheerful puppet who insists that nothing is wrong. Missing a target, though, can lead to termination of the permanent kind.
Matt Mercer is an iconic voice that many would have heard over the years in anime and gaming – with some recent roles being Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Minsc in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Vecna in Dead by Daylight. As Mr Magpie, he provides the character’s unsettling mumbles and blood-curdling noises.
The game is now coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in addition to PC. It will be included with Xbox Game Pass from launch and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
