Eight years in the making by a team of just two, Slavic folklore adventure The End of the Sun is heading to Xbox Series X|S on 4 November 2026. Publisher IMGN.PRO and developer The End of the Sun Forge confirmed the date alongside a new Xbox announcement trailer, which shows village life woven together with old beliefs and supernatural happenings.
Players take on the role of an ashter, a Slavic priest who can move through time. The story begins with their arrival in a mysterious village, where they gradually learn about the people who live there, following their lives through changing seasons and across several generations.
Exploration drives the experience. Revisiting the same locations at different points in time shows past events from new angles, gradually tying the villagers’ personal stories to traditional rituals and creatures drawn from Slavic mythology. Much of the story is pieced together from exploration and clues found in the environment.
The Polish developers have grounded the setting in research into regional traditions and material culture. Real buildings and historical objects were recreated using photogrammetry, bringing details of rural life into the game world.
The End of the Sun can be played with either English or Polish voice acting when it launches on Xbox Series X|S on 4 November 2026.
