World Of Slime Brings Gacha-Free Slime Taming To Steam Next Fest

A monster-taming MMORPG where every creature can be earned through play rather than bought is heading to Steam Next Fest. Seoul-based studio TEAM42 has confirmed that World of Slime will take part in the event, which runs from 19 to 26 October 2026, and has updated its demo with a new region and more slimes to find.

The demo first launched in August, and the new update adds a region and village packed with fresh quests. Noecheon Village is designed with a distinctly Korean look, filled with objects meant to give players the feel of visiting a traditional Korean village. The surrounding area is a field where lightning strikes often, and that is reflected in the new arrivals, with a large number of Electric and Wind type slimes added along with new synthesis combinations to try.

World of Slime describes itself as a cosy taming MMORPG, putting the focus on exploring at a relaxed pace rather than competing to become stronger. Players capture and raise monsters in familiar fashion, but the emphasis is on discovering new slimes through a fusion system. Being an MMO, it also lets players explore with friends or strangers and form parties for battles, while a wide range of quests provides goals along the way. The slimes themselves lean into the soft, squishy look the name suggests. Each one has its own appearance and set of gestures, and the characters share the same cute style, giving the game a gentle and relaxed atmosphere overall.

The developers are adamant that one of their biggest points of difference is their approach to monetisation. World of Slime does not sell randomised items, setting it apart from the gacha draws and pickup systems common in the monster-taming genre. Every slime can instead be obtained by capturing or synthesising it in game. However, TEAM42 plans to sell paid convenience items that save time, such as town return scrolls, along with character customisation skins.

The PC demo for World of Slime is available now on Steam. Mobile pre-registration opens in November 2026, ahead of a simultaneous launch on PC and mobile planned for December 2026.
