PlateUp! chefs can now cook in costume, with the game’s new Halloween event adding outfits inspired by other games from publisher Yogscast Games. The event, from Yogscast Games and developer It’s Happening, is live now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and the Epic Games Store, and will arrive on Nintendo Switch next week.
The seasonal update brings back Trick cards to the Daily and Weekly Challenge Boards, along with Halloween decorations for players’ restaurants.
The bulk of the new content is a set of costumes, each tied to a different Yogscast Games title:
- Detective outfit: inspired by Dupery, a solo deduction roguelite in which players hunt down a syndicate, releasing on 15 October.
- Astronaut costume: based on Glory on Pluto, a space roguelite about travelling from planet to planet towards Pluto. A demo is available now ahead of its 12 November launch.
- Knight costume: drawn from Dicealot, a roguelike where a single dice roll can change a run.
- Witch costume: inspired by the puzzle game Rhell: Warped Worlds & Troubled Times.
- Medieval costumes: based on The Royal Writ, a roguelike deckbuilder.
- Diver costume: tied to The Subminer, an underwater drilling roguelite in which each dive becomes more dangerous, with a demo available on Steam.
Steam players are also getting PlateUp! Steam Trading Cards. The cards feature recipes from the game, and collecting the full set completes a virtual recipe book.
Not all of the content is temporary. The new costumes and trading cards will remain in the game permanently, while the rest of the Halloween event will continue into November.
First released in 2022, PlateUp! is a roguelike for one to four players that mixes kitchen and restaurant management with strategic planning.
The PlateUp! Halloween event is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and the Epic Games Store, with the Nintendo Switch version following next week.
