Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 will put Proxies behind the controls of combat mechs when “Journey to the Sky” arrives on 21 October 2026. HoYoverse’s next update also introduces S-Rank Agents Phoenix and Severian, alongside a story mission that sends players undercover into High Ambitions Corp.
The new mech sequences form part of the main story, with Lindverne using her Karma Core ability, Genesis Reconstruction, to create machines for the Proxy to pilot. Players can switch between melee and ranged attacks, then fire a stronger laser after an EX Special Attack or a successful dodge. The surroundings play a part, too. Shooting explosives and punching heavy objects gives players additional ways to handle enemies and solve puzzles. HoYoverse says mech gameplay will remain available in future versions.
That machinery arrives amid an escalating conflict over Roscaelifer. With traffic to Booastrum shut down, the occupied skyport of Quietude Isle becomes the route back in. Judge Phoenix and Commissioner Severian are forced to travel together, while the Proxy accompanies Lindverne towards answers about the three Sunbringers and their Karma Cores.
Phoenix joins the roster in the update’s first half as an S-Rank Fire Anomaly Agent. Her Nirvana Core Skill sears enemies already affected by an Anomaly, allowing subsequent Anomaly damage against them to score critical hits. She can also recover from a fatal blow through Rebirth, returning to the fight with full health. Her debut comes with the S-Rank W-Engine Plume of Rebirth. Velina and the W-Engine Joyau Dore will return during the same phase.
Severian follows in the second half as an S-Rank Wind Attack Agent. The New Eridu Public Security commissioner’s Endless Breeze Core Skill lets him automatically evade an incoming attack and counter. Successful dodges and hits with a specific skill build Energy for stronger continuous slashes. His accompanying W-Engine is Incarcerating Grip, with Norma and Chief Sidekick also returning in that phase. Both newcomers receive trust events, avatars and dynamic wallpapers. Phoenix’s two new outfits will be sold together at a limited-time 30 per cent discount, while Severian’s Solemnly Impeccable uniform arrives with his Signal Search channel.
Seasonal activities include Lumina Square’s Night of Supernatural Tricks and the HIA Club’s Spooky Funhouse Tales. Players will drive Trickmobiles to frighten away unwanted funhouse guests, with rewards including an Angels of Delusion outfit, an A-Rank W-Engine and Proxy accessories. Other events involve repairing malfunctioning Bangboo, investigating an attack on Crowe and recovering painting fragments lost at sea. Area Patrol and Combat Simulation double-drop events also return.
Meanwhile, the permanent Enigma of the Labyrinth mode receives its Spooky Trial seasonal update. Master Devil, a Devilboo instructor, sets three rounds of increasingly demanding challenges. Players can compare prices at shops belonging to friends or Outpost group members before selling the Candle Cores earned during the trials.
For players working out how to use their roster, Fairy gains team recommendations covering line-ups, strategies and basic operation, with suggested teams transferable to a preset in one click. Selected Agents receive tutorial videos, and certain permanent combat modes will offer squad tips based on team size, enhancement progress and synergy. Inter-Knot promotion information and reminders are also being revised. Version 3.3’s check-in events will offer a total of 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.
