The Witcher Series Heads To Battle.net With Wild Hunt Remastered And Songs Of The Past

Blizzard Entertainment’s storefront, Battle.net, is about to gain a few new titles from a familiar developer. During gamescom Opening Night Live, Blizzard Entertainment and CD PROJEKT RED confirmed a partnership that will place two entries from The Witcher saga on Battle.net, marking the first fruits of a working relationship between the two studios.

The pair of titles heading to the platform are The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Songs of the Past, a newly announced expansion. Pre-purchases for the remaster are live now ahead of a 29 September release, while Songs of the Past can be added to wishlists on Battle.net in advance of a 2027 launch.

Andrew Guerrero, Vice President of Blizzard Product Management, framed the arrangement as an extension of what the platform has set out to offer its userbase.

Battle.net has always been about bringing amazing games and worlds to our players, and we’re thrilled to be welcoming one of the best. We could not be more excited to be partnering with CD PROJEKT RED to share these games with our community, from longtime players to new ones alike.

Speaking on behalf of the Polish developer, CD PROJEKT RED VP of Business Development Jan Rosner pointed to the shared history both companies have in the role-playing space, and the audience the move could reach.

Both CD PROJEKT RED and Blizzard Entertainment have incredible legacies of creating memorable, immersive RPG experiences. Bringing Geralt’s legendary story, and his upcoming adventure, to Battle.net feels like a natural fit. I’m really excited that this will give a whole new audience the opportunity to discover the world of The Witcher for themselves.

Both companies have described the announcement as a starting point rather than a one off, with plans to bring further titles from their respective catalogues together over time. There is a crossover incentive attached to the launch as well. Anyone who pre-purchases or purchases Songs of the Past through Battle.net once it becomes available will receive a Geralt-themed skin for use in Diablo IV.
